Hilton Head, SC
Family Activities
If the kids (or you!) are growing restless of the beach, you’re in luck: Hilton Head has a bunch of other options for you to explore. One favorite is horseback riding with Lawton Stables where you can discover the low country while on a one-hour guided trail ride. Riders must be at least 8 years old, but there are also pony rides available for children from 2-7 years old. While there, visit the small animal farm to see goats, sheep, pot-bellied pigs and more.
It’s also worthwhile to set aside time for Pirates of Hilton Head, a fun pirate cruise where the kids are transformed into the ship’s crew. Children hop aboard The Black Dagger, get a pirate name, learn how to talk “pirate,” and even get to search for a sunken treasure chest.
Nature
Enjoy the sights and sounds as you explore the waterways and inlets off Hilton Head in a kayak or canoe. There are several places on the island that offer rentals and/or guided tours, so pick the option that best suits you!
Over at Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, there are over 14 miles of walking and biking trails where you’ll spot birds and other wildlife. Bonus: if you are visiting during nesting season (spring and early summer), make your way to Ibis Pond and you may see ibis, egrets, herons and more. Don’t forget your camera!
Entertainment
If you feel like sitting back and enjoying a show, check out the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. In addition to performances, there are also special events, festivals, art exhibits, and more.
